BCM Institute’s introductory 1day course on the fundamentals of the Singapore Standard SS 540:2008 and Business Continuity Management (BCM) provide the participant with grounding in the national standard of BCM Practice released in November 2008.

The course basically prepares the participants with the framework and guidelines for companies, large or small, to move to a higher level of preparedness in order to lessen the impact of natural or man-made disruptions. BCM Institute used experiential training by experienced instructors who expound the BCM’s best practices, via classroom exercises and instructor led discussions.
Objectives
The course would cover the following topics which the participants should be able to achieve at the end of the session:
- Understand the function and purpose of SS540:2008.
- Translate the requirements of SS540:2008 into the participant’s organization business functions.
- Articulate these requirements to his/her management, business partners, suppliers and/or colleagues.
- Identify the elements of Business Continuity Management.
- Identify potential threats, risks and disruptions to the company’s business, and how to mitigate them.
- Be able to similarly convey these elements and risks to management.
Who should attend?
- Anyone new to the Business Continuity Management and/or SS540:2008 and is required to have a good understanding of the National BCM Program.
- If you have been tasked to spearhead or assist ithe SS540:2008 implementation initiatives within your organization If you have been recently assigned with BCM co-ordination responsibilites for your business unit .
- Any employees or consultants in EHS, Security, Human Resources, IT, Risk & Compliance functions If you are a business partner or service provider of essential services to any organization of which the disruption of such a service provided by you would be of catastrophic consequences to that organization.
Certification
- The Business Continuity Certified Planner (BCCP) Certification is awarded to participants who successfully completed their BCCP examination.
Audience
- BCM-240 is designed for Senior and Middle Management, Department Representatives, Business Unit BCM Coordinators, Organisational BC Coordinators and Planners.
- This course is suitable for those who are new to BC or DR, or recently been involved in BC or DR project /program within your organization.
Follow-up courses
- BCM-300 or BCM-5000, DRP-300 or DRP-5000.
- For novice who are keen to gain a comprehensive understanding of BCM, it would be useful to attend the BCM-5000: Implementing and Managing BCM course. Candidate that does not have the necessary BCM experience to meet the BC Certififed Expert (BCCE) certification and have passed the BCCE examination, will be allowed to apply for the BC Certified Planner or BC Certified Specialist.
