Singapore Business Continuity and Resilience Index 2011

By the Singapore Business Federation and BCM Institute.

The Singapore Business Continuity and Resilience Index is a call to businesses in Singapore to rally together and prepare for Business Disruption.

Organised by  the Singapore Business Federation and BCM Institute,  the index seeks to understand the impact of business disruption and to provide resources for businesses to prepare against such disruption.

Background

Singapore is the economic hub of Asia, highly connected to the region and the world, our economic stability is dependent on the resiliency of businesses in Singapore, and outside of Singapore.

Over the past years, Singapore and our partners in the region have faced business disruptions from crisis and disasters; and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Business disruptions may be caused by crisis and disasters occurring in Singapore or outside of Singapore. In a highly connected environment, business disruptions do not have any boundaries; that means a disruption that occurs outside of Singapore has an impact to businesses in Singapore, and in turn our economy.

It is therefore vital that businesses, as the economic drivers of the nation, have the capability and competency to built in resiliency within their organisation, and ensure business continuity in the event of a business disruption.
