WCC Singapore 2012: Blazing Forward In The World of Business Continuity & Risk Management

20120306 world continuity congress 2012 by bcm instituteSingapore, March- With a round of applause, the curtains came down on the 12th World Continuity Congress entitled ‘Evolving Crisis & Disaster Management In A Borderless World’ heralded in the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel Singapore on the 6th of March 2012. The event was spearheaded by a number of keynote speakers and fellow BCM practitioners from all around the world. Coming together to discuss, address and share their experiences with the attending delegates on economical and business issues in this ever changing world.

The World Continuity Congress continues to top the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery forums in the Asia Pacific, tending to coverage of current trends and issues. Some of our esteemed speakers included Dr. Goh Moh Heng, Mr. Bhakorn Vanuptikul, Ms. Kathy Dubé, Mr. Hans Boudestein, Mr. Arunabh Mitra, Ms. Selena Huynh, Mr. Gopakumar Nair and many more. All of which are leading experts in their own field and industry.

Dr. Goh Moh Heng provided an insight on the future of Business Continuity Management with his presentation “The Future of Business Continuity Management: It's All in the Mind”, covering the trends in which the world of business had taken to, adapted and even changed over the course of time. Professor Kenji Watanabe, yet another of our esteemed speakers elaborated on Japan’s earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis in his presentation “Managing the Supply Chain Risks During the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake”. Meanwhile the cause and effect of the Bangkok floods were tackled by Mr. Bhakorn Vanuptikul in “The Flooding in Thailand: Lessons Learned When Preparing your Organizations for a Catastrophic Event”.

20120306 world continuity congress 2012 bcm institute resilient organization awardLessons and pitfalls were offered to our fellow attending peers ranging from senior executives, corporate leaders and delegates from both private and public sectors in Singapore, Malaysia, India and even Thailand and beyond.  The floor was eventually opened for questions for the attending delegates to quench their thirst for knowledge and the hopes of gaining a better insight into the importance of Business Continuity Management.

The World Continuity Congress also honors recipients of the 2012 Resilience Awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

Professor Chen From China BCM Professional Forum Receiving The First Honorary BCCE

Beijing, January 2012- As part of the recognition for spearheading and promoting BCM for China, BCM Institute is proud to be associated with Professor Chen and the China BCM professional Forum.  In January 2012, Professor Chen was presented with the title “BCCE (Hon)" by Dr Goh Moh Heng, president of the BCM Institute.

In commemoration of one of Professor Chen’s most significant contribution in terms of unrelentless diligence and effort would be the partnership established by both the BCM Institute and CBCM on the 5th of January 2012. The memorandum signifies China’s first significant step to localize global practices by establishing a proper platform to enable industrial experts from all over the region and beyond to explore and enhance China's BCM, DR and crisis management development.

BCM Institute Establishes its Presence in China

China, Beijing 5 January 2012 -- BCM Institute and China Business Continuity Management Professional Forum (CBCM) announce the establishment of the representation of BCM Institute's education and certification program in China.   A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in conjunction with the 8th China BCM Executive Forum in Beijing. The establishment marks another milestone of promoting stronger collaboration between the China and Asia Pacific region.  The focus is on organizations and businesses endeavoring in the development of Risk Management, Crisis management, Business Continuity Management and Disaster Recovery.

Both BCM Institute and CBCM through the partnership believe that this is a step by step approach to localize global practices by establishing a platform that enables industrial experts from the region and beyond to explore and enhance the China's BCM, DR and crisis management development. As a result, BCM Institute with CBCM in China is set to provide access to industrial peers, theories, case studies, learning experiences and best practices transfer. Both collaborators and its associates are indeed hopeful that this will catalyze the development of the local BCM, DR and crisis management arena towards global competitiveness.





The Memorandum of Understanding which was signed in conjunction with China's 8th BCM Executive Forum themed Business Continuity Best Practices and Wisdoms at the Empark Grand Hotel, Beijing was witnessed by various supporting parties - welcoming a greater China - Asia Pacific BCM experts and organizations coalition. The signing is between Professor Chen Jianxin, Chairman of CBCM and Dr Goh Moh Heng, President of BCM Institute. Among them were Senior Executives from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of The People's Republic of China, Beijing Research Centre of Urban Systems Engineering, The People's Bank of China, The Advisory Committee for State Informatization (ACSI), Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), People’s Republic of China, and Standardization Administration of the Peoples Republic of China.
