Dear Colleagues, Friends and Partners,
2012 has been a long year as most economies are hampered with the Euro and US financial difficulties and both disasters and crises continues to increase in its numbers and magnitude throughout 2012, notably Hurricane Sandy (US) and Typhoon Bopha (Philippines). As we reached the end of 2012 and it is a good time, as crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery professionals, to reflect on the challenges of the past year. BCM Institute is glad to have served you and your team members in your education and professional certification needs. As for our partners, we just want to extend a warm thank you for your continued support in our efforts to evangelize this movement of being more resilient.
Encouraged by your support, we have increase our efforts in 2013 to reach out to the community through a series of Asian conferences starting with World Continuity Congress or WCC 2012 in Resort World Sentosa, Singapore in April 16, followed by WCC Thailand, WCC Philippines and WCC Malaysia. Our regular Meet-the Expert (MTE) seminars have also now expanded to Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank our clients, staff, business partners and associates, and you for your friendship and support through all these years that we have known you. President’s Message – February 2011

BCM Institute celebrated another inspiring year in 2010.
Being President of the Institute, my utmost pleasure is to see the Institute growing from strength to strength over the years. We managed to do this with support from the BCM community in both the Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Special mention going to our BCM Institute certified members and our valued partners. On top of that, the BC-DR community has seen more government agencies of various countries participating in BC-DR activities. Year 2010 was testimony for that – government grants and incentives were made available to aspiring BCM-DR professionals and organizations to apply for our courses.
The World Continuity Congress conferences and Meet-the-Expert Seminars were successfully held in over four countries thanks to our distinguished guests of honour, an amazing line-up of remarkable presenters from all over the world, our most valued sponsors, our most respected partners and BCM Institute’s highly dedicated staff. On that note, the red shirt civil unrest incident that took place in Bangkok early last year did not dampen our activities – a Crisis Simulation workshop and another Meet-the-Expert seminar were conducted for our Thai members 2 months later. These sessions have seen our participants relating their account of the incident!
Whether it is the result of government endorsements, World Continuity Congress Conferences, Meet-the-Expert seminars or emerging trends, certainly, more and more organizations are becoming aware of the many BCM and DR certifications that help ensure a sustainable BCM program and the resulting benefits. No wonder BCM auditing courses have been gaining popularity so quickly! Indeed, BC and DR practices are quickly gaining acceptance in sectors such as banking and finance, government, healthcare, manufacturing and other Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) organizations. BCM institute is proud to be the catalyst for this growth in these sectors.
Looking forward, we see tremendous opportunities for growth which, I believe, we are ready to embrace in 2011. We will continue our mission of providing an enjoyable learning experience and a recognised BCM-DR qualification to booster our members’ careers and credentials. I would say let us kick start another exciting year by marking your 2011 calendar with our BC-DR activities.
And lastly, on behalf of BCM Institute’s management and staff, we wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year ahead!
